Harrodsburg, IN

Harrodsburg is a small, quiet community in the rolling hills of southern Monroe County, located just off State Road 37. With around 300 residents, it offers a relaxed rural lifestyle with roots stretching back to the early 1800s. Originally settled along Clear Creek under the name Newgene, the area was soon renamed by newcomers arriving from Kentucky. Over the years, Harrodsburg has maintained its historic character while keeping neighbors close to the outdoor recreation and scenic landscapes of southern Indiana.

The town once bustled as a local hub for limestone workers, mills, and family farms, and much of that nineteenth-century village layout still stands today. A small history museum sits beside the community center, which serves as a gathering spot for local events throughout the year. It makes an appealing spot for anyone seeking country living with convenience, offering quick trips to Lake Monroe as well as an easy commute north to Bloomington or south to Bedford.
