About Hebron

Hebron is a McHenry County village with one oversized piece of basketball history. In 1952, the Alden-Hebron boys team won the Illinois state championship with an enrollment of 98, beating much larger Quincy in overtime. The title made the school the smallest in Illinois to win the boys championship and still gives the village its quickest local reference point. Outside that story, Hebron is a small village in the Chicago metro’s outer orbit, with Alden-Hebron schools tying the place to nearby Alden as well. If you’re placing Hebron on the map, think rural McHenry County, a school shared across two names, and the Green Giants’ famous run.
