Hector, AR

Hector is a quiet, close-knit town of around 400 people in the Pope County foothills, right on the doorstep of the Ozark National Forest. Located along Highway 27 about twenty minutes north of Russellville and Atkins, the area offers plenty of space, scenic wooded views, and a relaxed country lifestyle. The town also comes with a fun piece of history. When early settlers couldn't agree on a name in the late 1800s, postal officials turned to President Grover Cleveland, who named the community Hector after his favorite pet dog.

Life in Hector largely revolves around the outdoors and the local schools. The Hector School District serves the community from kindergarten through high school along the main highway, bringing neighbors together for ball games and local events. The community library was built through donated materials and local fundraisers, and families still turn out every summer for Hectorfest to enjoy good food and celebrate their town.
