About Henagar

Henagar is a city in DeKalb County, Alabama, perched on top of Sand Mountain, a southern extension of the Cumberland Plateau. The city was first settled around 1855 and takes its name from an early settler, George Henegar. Each July, the Sand Mountain Potato Festival draws visitors with live music, arts and crafts, and fireworks, celebrating the region's agricultural roots. The city is served by DeKalb County Schools and has the unusual distinction of still having a drive-in theater.
