Henryville, IN

Henryville is a census-designated place in Monroe Township, Clark County, Indiana. The 2020 census counted 1,878 residents. The village began as Morristown in 1850 and took the name Henryville in 1853 to honor Colonel Henry Ferguson. U.S. 31 and nearby Interstate 65 place the community on a major north-south corridor, while Clark State Forest begins just north of town. State Road 160 carries the Sanders marker and links the village with nearby farms and the forest's northern entrance.

Clark State Forest, established in 1903, is Indiana's oldest state forest and grew from a 2,000-acre purchase used for a nursery and forestry experiments. More than 150 experimental tree plantings were established from 1905 to 1935, and some remain. Its trails, campgrounds, fire tower, and nature preserves give Henryville a strong forestry landmark. The community is also linked to Colonel Harland Sanders, born and raised on a family farm near Henryville before his restaurant career in Kentucky. Henryville's local map joins an old village name, a major forest, and a famous food entrepreneur.
