About Hessville

Hessville is a tiny rural community of under 200 people in northwest Ohio’s Sandusky County. Founded in the 1830s, the area has an unexpected claim to fame. In the 1840s, a local woodworker carved figures here to build one of the earliest recorded carousels in the country. Today, it offers quiet, open-country living along Route 20, keeping residents close to everyday shopping in nearby Fremont while enjoying plenty of peaceful space.
