Hide-A-Way Hills, OH

Hide-A-Way Hills is a CDP spread across Fairfield and Hocking counties in southeastern Ohio, built as a residential lake community in the Hocking Hills. The development began in 1961 as a gated retreat with year-round homes, vacation places, club roads, and several small lakes. Those lakes sit on tributaries of Rush Creek, which feeds the Hocking River, so the water network is woven into the neighborhood plan rather than added later.

That setup makes Hide-A-Way Hills feel different from a normal Ohio village. There is no old courthouse square or railroad main street; the local map is made of sections, wooded lots, lake roads, and trails reserved for club members. Recorded subdivision plats still show the development's spread across Marion Township and the two-county edge. The Hocking Hills landscape supplies the larger setting, while the community's own identity comes from the lakes, club rules, and the mix of permanent and vacation homes.
