High Forest, MN

High Forest is an unincorporated community in High Forest Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota, United States, near Rochester and Stewartville. The 2020 census counted 126 residents. The community is located near the junction of Olmsted County Roads 6 and 8, and Covill Street SW. High Forest was platted in 1855, and named for the forests near the original town site. That mix gives High Forest a clear local shape within Minnesota, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. A post office was established at High Forest in 1856, and remained in operation until 1902.
