About Highwood

Highwood is a city in Moraine Township, Lake County, Illinois, situated as a North Shore suburb of Chicago. Ceded by the Potawatomi under the 1833 Treaty of Chicago, the community of approximately 5,301 grew around Camp Highwood, established in 1887. The city borders Fort Sheridan and is home to the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory, and public education is administered by North Shore School District 112.
