Hobart, OK

Hobart is Kiowa County’s seat, a southwest Oklahoma city that appeared almost overnight when town lots were sold on August 6, 1901, after the Kiowa-Apache-Comanche reservation opening. Its courthouse square still sets the center, with the Kiowa County Historical Museum carrying the town’s farming and railroad story. The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum adds a twentieth-century military chapter. Hobart remains tied to wheat, cotton, cattle, feed, and the railway, so the local picture is broader than the courthouse alone. It is an Oklahoma county seat with a tent-town beginning and a square full of history.
