Holdingford, MN

Holdingford is a Stearns County city nine miles north of Avon and part of the St. Cloud metropolitan area. Its best-known piece of infrastructure is the covered bridge just off Main Street, identified by the city as the longest covered bridge in Minnesota. The bridge carries a Lake Wobegon Trail connection across the river corridor, tying the city's Garrison Keillor reference to a physical route through central Minnesota. The city counted 718 residents in the 2020 census, with the covered bridge defining its Main Street approach.

The town's current map has several distinct gathering places. Lake Wobegon Trailhead Park provides the trail access, Veterans Park includes a campground, playground, skateboard ramps, volleyball courts, and a softball field, and the Soldier's Shrine in the center of town dates to 1942.
