About Hollandale

Hollandale is a Washington County city in the Mississippi Delta, with Deer Creek through town and Leroy Percy State Park just west along Mississippi Highway 12. The town takes its name from Dr. Holland, the original owner of the town site, and Hollandale's public-school system still carries the local name. A Mississippi Blues Trail marker adds a music-history thread through Sam Chatmon, while the state park brings cypress, artesian springs, Alligator Lake, and Delta wildlife just outside town. Hollandale is a place where the straight lines of cotton-country roads meet water, blues history, and a state park close enough for an afternoon.
