About Home

Home, sometimes called Home City, is a tiny rural community sitting right along U.S. 36 in Marshall County. It got its name back in the 1870s after a local postmaster had his first choice rejected and simply sent in "Home," since he was sorting mail out of his own house. It soon developed into a classic Kansas rail stop, handling grain and livestock for surrounding farms and supporting a small cluster of homes, churches, and local businesses.
