About Hometown

Hometown is a Schuylkill County census-designated place in Rush Township, set at the crossing of Pennsylvania Routes 54 and 309 between Tamaqua and Hazleton. The Reading, Blue Mountain and Northern Railroad follows the old Nesquehoning and Mahanoy short-line corridor near the community, giving the place a rail-and-highway shape. Blue Mountain rises nearby, while Hometown remains a small village within Rush Township. It is a Pennsylvania crossroads whose local map is road, rail, mountain, and the long north–south route through eastern Schuylkill County.
