Horine is a small, quiet community tucked along Joachim Creek in eastern Jefferson County. Home to around 650 residents, it offers a relaxed, semi-rural setting right next door to Pevely and Herculaneum. Families here are served by the Dunklin R-V School District, sharing schools with neighboring towns. Because Horine is almost entirely residential, locals make the short drive into nearby river communities for groceries, dining, and everyday essentials.

The area got its start in the 1860s as a railroad stop on the Missouri Pacific line, named after local landowner and lawyer C. Thomas Horine. That laid-back, small-town atmosphere has stuck around ever since.
