About Houston

Houston is a Matanuska-Susitna Borough city situated along the George Parks Highway and the Little Susitna River. Part of the Anchorage metropolitan area, the community developed from a railroad siding established in 1917 for local mining operations. Today, the town is a residential residential center that is widely known to travelers for hosting the famous Gorilla Fireworks stand, which supplies pyrotechnics to visitors journeying into the Alaskan interior.
