Huachuca City, AZ

Huachuca City started as a Southern Pacific stop in southwestern Cochise County, first known as Huachuca Siding and renamed Campstone in 1926. The town grew again when Fort Huachuca reopened in 1954, and the Army post still sits just south along the town's border with Sierra Vista. That proximity shapes the place, but Huachuca City has its own desert-grid identity: U.S. 90, Gonzales Boulevard, the town pool, and the Huachuca Mountains rising beyond the valley. The mountain name is loosely translated as place of thunder. Huachuca City is a small Arizona town with railroad beginnings and a military neighbor.
