Huntington, NY

Huntington is a Suffolk County census-designated place within the Town of Huntington. The 2020 census recorded 19,645 residents across about eight square miles. Town Hall stands on Main Street in the community. The town’s preservation inventory identifies the Old Town Hall Historic District nearby and the Old Huntington Green Historic District along Park Avenue, Woodhull Road, Main Street, and Sabbath Day Path; the latter includes town greens and buildings dating from the 1653 settlement into the early twentieth century. The town’s official history identifies the Matinecock as the area’s earliest residents and traces English settlement to a 1653 deed.
