About Huntland
Huntland is a Franklin County town organized around the meeting of State Routes 122 and 97, with U.S. 64 reached just north. The town took shape in the early 1900s and was incorporated in 1907, carrying the name of early settler Clinton Armstrong Hunt. Its school story reaches back to Huntland Academy, built in 1869–70 on what is now John Hunter Highway and Main Street. Route 122 runs southwest toward Elora while Route 97 continues into Alabama. Huntland is a Tennessee crossroads town with a schoolhouse-era past.
