Hurleyville, NY

Hurleyville is a Sullivan County hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Fallsburg, set along County Road 104 between Liberty and Monticello. The 2020 census counted 519 residents. The road made the place: Hurleyville grew along the main route between those two villages, first with dairy farms and later inside the Catskills' Borscht Belt resort country. It still reads as a crossroads rather than a standalone town. The Sullivan County Cultural Center occupies a former school building on Main Street and holds the Sullivan County Historical Society and museum; the old resort era is part of the county story on display.

The local Rails to Trails route adds an outdoor line through the hamlet, while Hurleyville's maker and arts spaces give the center a newer use. The former school and the trail make the hamlet feel more connected than its population suggests.
