Hyde Park, VT

Hyde Park is a Lamoille County village along the Lamoille River, with 410 residents in the 2020 census. Incorporated under a Vermont municipal charter in 1895, it sits inside the larger Town of Hyde Park but has its own Main Street, utilities, civic buildings, and historic district. A 1910 fire began at the county jail and destroyed more than a dozen buildings; the village rebuilt, leaving a streetscape that includes the Lamoille County Courthouse, the 1898 Lamoille Central Academy, Lanpher Memorial Library, and the Hyde Park Opera House. County offices and courts still draw people from around Lamoille County.

The village’s map is easy to place in north-central Vermont: the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail reaches the center, the river runs nearby, and Green Mountain recreation is close. The Village Opera House is home to the Lamoille County Players, while Depot Street leads toward the trail. Hyde Park is a compact Vermont village with a county-seat role, a rebuilt historic center, and a trail-and-river setting.
