Hydro, OK

Hydro got its start in 1901 as a railroad stop, taking its name from the abundant well water found underneath the town. Today, it is a quiet, welcoming western Oklahoma community where life moves at an easy pace. Sitting right along Interstate 40 and historic Route 66, Hydro offers the charm of rural living with a quick commute to nearby Weatherford for shopping, dining, and jobs.

The town takes plenty of pride in its Route 66 roots, most notably Lucille’s Service Station, where Lucille Hamons spent sixty years greeting travelers as the "Mother of the Mother Road." Community traditions run deep, especially at the annual Hydro Free Fair, which has brought locals together every fall since 1904. Families are served by the close-knit Hydro-Eakly school district, giving the area a friendly, supportive feel where it is easy to settle in and get to know your neighbors.
