Indian Wells, AZ

Indian Wells, known in Navajo as Tóhahadleeh or “dipping water,” is a quiet, rural community on the Navajo Nation about 40 miles north of Holbrook. The high desert landscape here is open and scenic, surrounded by rolling hills, scattered junipers, and the distinctive volcanic formations of the Hopi Buttes. It offers a remote, relaxed setting with big skies and strong connections to Navajo cultural traditions.

Daily life revolves around a few key local spots, including the chapter house, the post office, the senior center, and Indian Wells Elementary School. While ranching and raising livestock remain a respected part of the area's heritage, many residents commute along Route 15 to jobs in nearby towns like Holbrook and Winslow.
