J-Six Ranchettes, AZ

J-Six Ranchettes is a Pima County census-designated place whose identity comes mostly from its position on the map. Interstate 10 runs along the community, nine miles west of Benson and 38 miles southeast of Tucson, while Cochise County begins to the east. That puts J-Six Ranchettes in the long space between a nearby small city and a larger regional center. The name suggests ranch country, but the strongest local clue is the transportation corridor: the interstate is the line that ties this community to the rest of southern Arizona.

The CDP was first listed before the 2020 census and overlaps completely or primarily with Pima County Two, giving the place a boundary story as well as a geographic one. It sits within the Vail Unified School District, whose reach gives families a shared connection beyond the highway exits and county line.
