Jackson, AL

Jackson is a historic Clarke County city situated on a rise overlooking the east bank of the Tombigbee River in southwestern Alabama. Founded in 1816 and named in honor of Andrew Jackson, the town's economy is historically driven by the regional timber industry. The city features the Jackson Historic District and is home to a campus of Coastal Alabama Community College. Historically, the location was also notable for hosting a Confederate fort along the riverbanks during the Civil War.
