Jamestown, OH

Jamestown is a Greene County village of 2,052 people at the 2020 census, an old farming community spread across Silvercreek and Ross Townships in eastern Ohio. The village was surveyed in 1815, platted in 1816, and named for Jamestown, Virginia, the birthplace of an early landowner. Washington and Xenia Streets run east-west through the original center, while Limestone Street cuts north-south. The irregular footprint reflects additions made after the first survey.

The Dayton and Southeastern Railroad crosses the southern part of the village, a reminder that Jamestown once handled more movement than its size might suggest. Greeneview Local School District serves the village and surrounding farm country with elementary, middle, and high schools, and the Greene County Public Library keeps a branch nearby.
