Jefferson, LA

Jefferson is a census-designated place in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, situated on the north side of the Mississippi River as part of the New Orleans-Metairie-Kenner metropolitan area. Locally known as Old Jefferson, the community lies on land that French colonial documents describe as the Tchoupitoulas Coast, a stretch of Native American settlement later divided into plantations with boundary lines perpendicular to the river. Public education is administered by the Jefferson Parish Public Schools.
