Jefferson is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Frederick County, Maryland, situated at the western base of Catoctin Mountain. Originally established in 1774 and briefly incorporated in the early 1830s, the community of approximately 3,314 features the historic Lewis Mill Complex. Public education for local students is served by Frederick County Public Schools.
