About Jennings

Jennings is a Garrett County CDP with a local history shaped by timber and rail. The Jennings Brothers Railroad operated from 1899 to 1918, with its main line following the South Branch of the Casselman River toward Meadow Mountain. The line served the lumber operation in Jennings; in 1998, state assistance supported a sewer project serving eighty-four homes, with wastewater sent to the Grantsville treatment plant. Jennings's present setting joins a rail-and-river industrial past with the infrastructure of a residential community.
