Jermyn, PA

Situated along the Lackawanna River about eleven miles north of Scranton, Jermyn is a quiet, close-knit borough with classic northeastern Pennsylvania charm. The town is best known as the birthplace of first aid in America, dating back to 1899 when a local doctor held the nation's very first safety training classes for anthracite coal miners.
