Jeromesville, OH

Jeromesville is an Ashland County village in Mohican Township, laid out in 1815 and named for Jean, or John Baptiste, Jerome. A post office has operated here since 1816. The village grew in the Mohican Township landscape, and its original street grid now fits between county roads and the surrounding farm country. The Jerome name carries the place back to its earliest settlement, while the post office date points to how quickly the crossroads became an established stop.

Town Hall at 81 South High Street is the clearest civic address, with village council meetings held there on the third Tuesday each month and water bills accepted at town hall or the maintenance garage on East South Street. Hillsdale Local Schools' K-12 campus sits at 479 Township Road 1902, putting the district's school buildings along one of the roads leading out from the village. Jeromesville's current map is compact: High Street for village business, the school campus for daily school life, and township roads carrying the place into the wider Mohican Valley.
