Jessup, MD

Jessup is a census-designated place split between Howard and Anne Arundel counties, located along the old Baltimore-Washington corridor. Its history includes the nearby site of Spurrier's Tavern, a farm and tavern on the post road between the two cities. Modern Jessup is known for several very practical institutions: correctional facilities, the Maryland Food Center, and the Savage Stone quarry, which mines Baltimore Gabbro for road construction. It feels industrial, logistical, and central to the region's behind-the-scenes infrastructure.
