Jewett, IL

Jewett is a village in Cumberland County, Illinois, United States. The 2020 census counted 196 residents. Jewett is part of the Charleston–Mattoon Micropolitan Statistical Area. Jewett is located in south-central Cumberland County along the route of the former National Road. The elementary, middle, and high school are located in Toledo. That mix gives Jewett a clear local shape within Illinois, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. U.S. Route 40 now runs through the northern part of the village, leading northeast 5 miles to Greenup and southwest 8 miles to Montrose.
