About Joseph City

Joseph City is a census-designated place in Navajo County, Arizona, located on Interstate 40 about eighty miles east of Flagstaff and thirty-five miles west of Petrified Forest National Park. It was settled in 1876 by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who came to farm the Little Colorado River basin. The Cholla Power Plant operates near the community, and Joseph City Unified School District runs both an elementary school and a high school serving local students.
