Kamiah, ID

Set right along the Clearwater River, Kamiah is a small, scenic community with milder winters than much of northern Idaho thanks to its low canyon elevation. The valley has long roots with the Nez Perce tribe, who spent winters here, and Lewis and Clark famously camped nearby in 1806 while waiting for mountain snow to melt. Today, newcomers are drawn by the quiet, close-knit feel and easy access to the water, especially world-class steelhead and salmon fishing. It is a peaceful spot to settle down if you love the outdoors and want a slower pace of life.
