About Keams Canyon

Keams Canyon is a census-designated place in Navajo County, Arizona, situated on the Hopi Reservation. Located in a narrow box canyon known in Hopi as Pongsikya, the community of around three hundred residents grew around a late nineteenth-century trading post operated by William and Thomas Keam. The area lies along a seasonal stream draining from Antelope Mesa. Today, Keams Canyon is served by the Cedar Unified School District and hosts the Hopi Junior/Senior High School, preserving a deep cultural heritage.
