Keller, TX

Keller got its start back in the 1840s when Missouri farming families settled along the wooded banks of Big Bear Creek. Growth picked up fast once the Texas and Pacific Railway arrived in 1881, and the rail stop was soon named after railway foreman John C. Keller. That frontier rail depot has evolved into modern Old Town Keller, where you can still find pedestrian-friendly streets lined with local restaurants, indie shops, and colorful public art that preserve the community's small-town heritage.

Keller is organized into a few distinct hubs that make running errands and dining out simple. Old Town is known for its cozy dining spots and local boutiques, while Town Center serves as the modern core with walkable shops, offices, and residential spaces surrounding a scenic municipal lake. Larger retail centers, grocery stores, and essential services line Keller Parkway and US 377. This practical setup keeps daily conveniences close to home while giving each part of town its own distinct feel.

Community activities keep these spots active all week long. The Keller Public Library is a popular family stop with its creative MakerStation, storytimes, and seed-sharing library. You will also spot outdoor sculptures throughout Old Town and rotating art exhibitions inside Town Hall. During warmer months, locals bring lawn chairs and blankets to the Town Center lawn for summer concerts, movie nights, and community gatherings like the annual Keller Lights celebration.

For outdoor recreation, the Big Bear Creek Greenbelt offers miles of scenic paved trails winding through the middle of the city. The trail system connects the expansive Keller Sports Park to family-friendly neighborhoods like Hidden Lakes, passing right by the Keller Pointe community center and the municipal lakes. It gives joggers, cyclists, and families an easy way to stay active outside while linking different corners of the city through the same peaceful creek corridor that originally put Keller on the map.
