Kellogg, IA

Home to around 600 people, Kellogg is a quiet Jasper County community with deep railroad roots. Founded in the 1860s along the tracks, the town cycled through a few different names before honoring a local judge with the one it carries today. The railway originally put it on the map, but the area has long since settled into a calm, easygoing rhythm.

You can still see that background on High Street, where the local historical society maintains a nine-building museum site complete with an old one-room schoolhouse and a country church. Bordered by the North Skunk River to the south and Highway 224 to the east, Kellogg gives residents a peaceful, small-town setting with an easy drive to nearby Newton and Interstate 80.
