About Newton

Newton is a city and the county seat of Jasper County, Iowa, located thirty miles east of Des Moines. Named in honor of Revolutionary War soldier John Newton, the community of approximately 15,700 is home to Iowa Speedway and Maytag Dairy Farms. The annual Iowa Sculpture Festival, begun in 2002, celebrates the art form each year, and public education is provided by the Newton Community School District.
