Kellogg, MN

Kellogg is a city in Wabasha County, Minnesota, along the Zumbro River in the Mississippi River Valley. The 2020 census counted 415 residents. U.S. 61 and Minnesota 42 meet the local road network, with the river running toward the Mississippi and Lock and Dam No. 4 nearby. The city’s setting puts it between river bottoms, bluffs, farm country, and state parks that draw anglers, hunters, and bird-watchers through southeastern Minnesota. The Mississippi River remains the big geographic fact around Kellogg.

Kellogg was laid out in 1870, named for a railroad sign maker, and incorporated in 1877. Its post office dates to 1872, giving the city a long connection to the rail and road routes that followed the Zumbro. Lock and Dam No. 4 keeps the working river close to town, while Highway 61 carries traffic along the valley.
