Kellyville, OK

Kellyville is a Creek County town on Historic Route 66 about eight miles southwest of Sapulpa. James E. Kelly established a trading post here around 1892, opened the post office in 1893, and gave the town its name. The railroad arrived in 1898, linking Kellyville with Sapulpa and Oklahoma City, and the early local economy grew through cotton, oil, gas, banks, gins, and small businesses.

That layered history still gives the town several different directions. Route 66 and State Highway 66 point east toward Sapulpa and the Tulsa area, while Heyburn Lake and Heyburn State Park sit west with camping, fishing, swimming, picnic areas, and a boat launch. Kellyville's public park provides a closer place for local gatherings, and the town's school and businesses serve residents who often work elsewhere in the Creek County and Tulsa orbit. Kellyville is a town where a trading post, a railroad, oil fields, and a lake all remain part of the same everyday geography.
