Kemmerer is a city and the county seat of Lincoln County, Wyoming, situated in the Hams Fork River valley. Established in 1897 as a coal mining town and famous as the location of James Cash Penney's first retail store, the community of approximately 2,972 is served by Lincoln County School District 1 locally today.
