Kenova, WV

Kenova sits right where West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio meet, which is actually how it got its name: a blend of Ken-tucky, O-hio, and (West) Virginia. Home to around 3,000 people, this quiet riverfront community sits along the Ohio and Big Sandy rivers just outside Huntington. It got its start as a late-19th-century railroad hub, and today it offers a peaceful, close-knit neighborhood setting with an easy commute to jobs and amenities across the tri-state area.

The town also has plenty of local character, highlighted by Dreamland Pool. Built in 1925, the massive municipal pool once featured a dance pavilion where legends like Louis Armstrong and Benny Goodman played to packed crowds. The city stepped in to preserve the historic landmark, and it still opens up for local families to swim every summer. Between long-standing spots like Dreamland and annual traditions like the famous Kenova Pumpkin House each fall, it is a friendly place with deep community roots.
