Kenwood, OK

Kenwood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place spanning Delaware and Mayes counties in northeastern Oklahoma, with the county line running through its everyday map. The name combines William Kennedy with the National Hardwood Company, linking the settlement to both a person and a wood company. Its post office opened in 1922, and Kenwood is about 20 miles southwest of Jay and 11 miles east of Salina, making Salina the practical service town for many regional routines.

Education and community facilities are the clearest local centers. Kenwood Public School serves elementary students from its South 502 Road campus, while other children fall into Wickliffe or Salina school districts on either side of the county boundary. A Cherokee Nation community-center property on School Road includes a softball field, basketball court, playground, and classrooms, giving the two-county community a shared gathering place. Kenwood Road and the county line define the physical map; school, tribal facilities, and routes toward Salina and Jay define how residents connect to the wider region.
