Keuka Park, NY

Keuka Park is a hamlet and census-designated place on the east branch of Keuka Lake in Yates County's town of Jerusalem. The 2020 census counted 1,130 residents. The lake gives the place its Finger Lakes setting, but Keuka College supplies much of the local rhythm. The college was founded in 1890 by the Rev. George H. Ball, and its campus still occupies the lakeside site he selected. Ball Hall keeps that early chapter visible, while the surrounding roads and shoreline tie the hamlet to the rest of Jerusalem's rural, agricultural landscape.

Keuka Park has the feel of a college-and-lake community, with the school calendar sitting beside the seasonal movement around Keuka Lake. The residential campus brings students into a place that is otherwise a small Yates County hamlet. In 1979, director Ron Miller's Symphonic Steel Band even took Keuka's name onto national television through The American Trail, an odd little piece of local lore that still makes the community memorable. Keuka Park is small on the map, but its story has three clear threads: lake, college, and the hamlet roads between them.
