About Kilgore

Kilgore is a welcoming East Texas community set among the tall pines of the Piney Woods. With a population of around 13,000, it offers the comfort of a close-knit small town while keeping you well connected to the rest of the region. Interstate 20 runs right by the city, giving residents an easy drive to larger nearby hubs like Longview and Tyler for expanded shopping, dining, and healthcare.

Five of the approximately 75 Kilgore College Rangerettes, a choreographed dance team that first formed in 1940 and now performs not only at football and other sports events at the small college in LCCN2014632687

The town is best known for its 1930s oil boom, when hundreds of derricks crowded into downtown to create the famous World's Richest Acre. Today, restored derricks still light up the skyline alongside a walkable downtown district and the East Texas Oil Museum. Kilgore College brings plenty of energy to town, especially through performances by the world-famous Rangerettes, while local parks and paved walking trails make it an easy place to settle down.
