About Kilgore

Kilgore is a city in Gregg and Rusk counties, Texas, located in the Piney Woods region south of the Sabine River. Founded in 1872 along the International-Great Northern Railroad and named for landowner Constantine Buckley Kilgore, the community of approximately 13,470 is home to Kilgore College. The college is famous for its Rangerettes precision dance drill team, founded in 1940, and the town is served by the Kilgore Independent School District.
