La Barge, WY

La Barge is a small, quiet community of around 400 people in southwest Wyoming’s Green River Valley. Sitting right along Highway 189, the town is surrounded by open high-desert scenery with the Wyoming Range rising in the distance. Life here is simple and uncrowded, making it a great spot for people who love the outdoors. The Green River runs right past town for excellent trout fishing, and Fontenelle Reservoir is just a short drive south for boating, camping, and weekend getaways.

Much of the local workforce is connected to the region's oil, natural gas, and ranching operations. Families with young children have an elementary school right in town, while older students commute about twenty miles north to Big Piney for middle and high school. While major shopping and specialized services require a drive to larger hubs like Kemmerer or Rock Springs, La Barge offers everyday essentials, friendly neighbors, and plenty of open space to spread out.
