Labish Village, OR

Labish Village is an unincorporated census-designated place in western Marion County, on the east side of Oregon 99E between Salem and Brooks. The 2020 census counted 454 residents. Salem is about seven miles southwest, Woodburn about eleven miles northeast, and both cities sit within the community’s everyday reach along the highway corridor. Labish Village belongs to the Salem metropolitan area, yet its land pattern is more compact than the surrounding farm country: residential subdivisions and highway-facing commercial parcels line the 99E corridor.

The named community grew through two planned subdivisions. Labish Village was platted in 1948 with 130 lots, followed by the 31-lot Helton Tracts in 1956. Most lots range from 7,000 to 13,000 square feet, and the county describes the area as predominantly residential with some highway commercial use. Separate water systems served the subdivisions, and sewer lines extended into the area in the mid-1970s after health concerns. That infrastructure history is part of what makes Labish Village distinct: it is a settled residential pocket with its own service pattern, positioned between Salem’s urban edge and Woodburn’s southern approach.
