Lake Almanor Country Club, CA

Lake Almanor Country Club is a Plumas County census-designated place on the Lake Almanor Peninsula. The 2020 census counted 451 residents. It is a residential piece of a much larger lake landscape, with the water, pine forests, and Lassen Peak setting more important to the map than a traditional downtown. County records show Lake Almanor Country Club subdivision maps beginning in 1959, and the mutual water company was incorporated in 1963 to provide domestic, irrigation, and fire-protection water for the club, the Pines residential area, and the Peninsula Village commercial area.

Lake Almanor itself was created in 1914 when the Feather River was dammed in Big Meadows, covering part of the old town of Prattville. The lake has 52 miles of shoreline, while the paved Lake Almanor Recreation Trail follows nineteen miles of the west shore. From the country club, the everyday landscape is a mix of lakeside homes, private roads, water infrastructure, and the larger recreational network around the peninsula. Plumas Unified School District serves the area. Lake Almanor Country Club is less a stand-alone town than a named residential corner of a reservoir community, with the lake doing most of the neighborhood's organizing.
