About Lake Park
Lake Park is a Dickinson County city that started with the Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Northern Railway in 1882 and incorporated in 1892. The town's name makes sense once you look west: Trappers Bay State Park sits on the shore of Silver Lake just beyond the city, with a CCC-era shelter and picnic grounds. Harris-Lake Park Community School District keeps its elementary and middle/high schools in Lake Park, and the city also maintains Silver Lake Park, a library, and municipal utilities. Lake Park is a northwest Iowa place where a railroad-era town grid meets the water, the school campus, and the parks that give the name its everyday meaning.
